The children are now here, please help us feed them |
|
In April we reminded you that the children were coming. It is now
summer, school is out and the children are here. Families with children
make up the majority of our increased need for service. Loaves &
Fishes requests for service have increased 54% over December 2009
levels. Our donations have not kept pace with the need.

Are you hungry for a hot, nutritious meal and you are in Oakley?
Loaves & Fishes moved recently to a new Oakley site located at the
Redman-Pocahontas Hall at 1403 Main Street, next to the Live Oak
Church. The site is on the Tri-Delta Transit Route 383 Oakley Loop.
“Come join us for a hot lunch with salad, fruit and dessert, plus a
beverage, and the price is right,” says LFCC executive director Mike
Baroman-Coggins. “The price is free if you are hungry in East County
and would like to eat with us.” Loaves & Fishes encourages
families, the elderly and anyone who is hungry to visit our Oakley
dining room that opened on May 5th. The Redman Hall replaces the site
that LFCC ran at St. Anthony’s Church on O’Hara Avenue.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company Helps Loaves & Fishes Go Green |

On April 30, 2010 Loaves & Fishes received a grant for $2,000 from Pacific Gas and Electric Company. The grant was made specifically to fund our program to green our operation footprint and improve energy efficiency in our Pittsburg catering kitchen. The grant will go towards the purchase of a new energy efficient rollup door for the kitchen, which will keep cold air and dust out of the kitchen during the winter and with weatherized stripping, keep warm air out of the kitchen in the summer months.
