Aidells Sausage Continues to Take Huge Bites Out of Hunger

During November, Aidells Sausage, a San Leandro based company, donated 2,000 pounds of sausage to Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa (LFCC).  This donation is in addition to 1,000 pounds of sausage donated in June, 1,800 pounds of sausage donated in February, and the 1,200 pounds of sausage donated in January. That's 6,000 pounds of sausage donated this year! That's a lot of sausage!!!

Aidells, a company started in 1983 by Chef Bruce Aidells, produces the finest premium quality, hand –crafted sausages. Making the sausage in small batches with exceptional ingredients is the key to the popularity of the Aidells brand.

1983 was a great year for new ideas.  Bruce  Aidells was starting the Aidells sausage company in San Leandro.  Meanwhile, two women in Pittsburg, CA were starting up a grassroots effort to feed the hungry and founded Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa.  Twenty seven years, and 3.4 million hot, nutritious meals later, these two organizations merged paths.   As Loaves and Fishes endeavors to feed over 800 people per day, we had put out a call for help with donations.  Julie Derr received an email and helped LFCC with an initial 50 pounds of sausage in December, followed by the 1,200 pounds of sausage in January, and now 1,800 pounds of sauaage in Februrary!

At Aidells, the belief is in the power of good food and strong communities. Aidells supports non-profit organizations across the country, and especially right in their back yard, the Bay Area.   A huge thank you Aidells for your donation and continuing support to LFCC, helping us feed the hungry!
