Individual donations are down and we can sure use your help |
|
We make use of food in the community that might otherwise go to waste by working with our food partners to salvage that food and create wonderful and inspiring meals. We do all of this while spending our donation dollars wisely and leveraging our purchasing power to provide more food for less money. It does take money to sustain this
operation. Fuel costs, rent, food and utilities have all risen in the
past year, just as they have in your households. Along with these
rising costs, the number of people eating in our dining rooms has grown
alarmingly. We are feeding 54% more people today that in December of
2009. Many of those new diners are families with children and the
elderly on fixed incomes. While the need has increased, our individual donations are down. Individuals, the $ 5, 10, 25 or 50-dollar donors, are the backbone of the organization. We depend on those donors for our operational costs, purchasing the food and fuel that bring the meals to the table. Won’t you help? Join us today in providing a hot nutritious meal to anyone who is hungry in Contra Costa County. With dining rooms in the communities that need us most – Martinez, Bay Point, Antioch, Oakley and starting on July 1st, Pittsburg – we are on the front line of this need. We, the volunteers and staff of Loaves & Fishes, love to be on the front lines, doing the work that needs to be done, but we cannot do that work without you, our loyal donors. Please consider making a donation today! |
