WOW-Look at our New Wheels on the road!!

THANK YOU! John Muir/Mt. Diablo Community Health Fund.

Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa (LFCC) is serving 900 meals a day. This increase in meals is due to more people in need and the opening of our 2 new dining rooms in Pittsburg and Bay Point.  The 900 meals are prepared daily at the Catering Kitchen in Pittsburg and then transported to our 8 dining rooms throughout Contra Costa County. The delivery vehicle that is used daily to deliver these meals is an essential component of delivering meals to the hungry of Contra Costa. Recently, Loaves and Fishes was in great need of a reliable delivery vehicle so we could keep up on the demand of our services. Because of our tight budget due to the high demand and decrease in donations, LFCC could not afford to purchase a delivery vehicle or have costly repairs on our current vehicle.  The current delivery vehicle being used daily was bought in 2006 and had over 197,000 miles on it. The delivery routes add up to approximately 40,000 miles per year.

In December 2010, John Muir/Mt. Diablo Community Health Fund accepted a proposal from LFCC for the purchase of a new delivery vehicle.  We are delighted to announce our proposal was accepted and John Muir/Mt. Diablo Community Health Fund agreed to purchase a new delivery truck for us.  We are very excited; the new delivery truck has arrived and is rolling up and down Hiway 4 delivering meals to the hungry of Contra Costa.
