Expanding Again to Serve Growing Need |
|
Demand is up almost 50% in the economic crisis. We’re back in Concord and expanding through partnering organizations to more sites and cities. The worsening economic crisis has ballooned demand for our services. Some of our sites experience up to 50% more clients. Contra Costa residents have been particularly hard hit, between staggering home foreclosures and job losses. People who never expected to need help are finding themselves having to choose between feeding their families and meeting other basic expenses. There’s nothing more basic than food! So L&FCC is growing again to serve the largest concentrations of hungry families. We’re Back in Concord! Actually, we never fully left serving the city’s hungry, though we closed the St. Michael’s Church dining room. We’ve been delivering hot nutritious daily meals through a partner organization, Mental Health Consumer Concerns, at their Treat Boulevard site.
Two additional sites are planned. One more key partner in Concord is in the works. We’re also planning for a major return to Pittsburg in 2010 with a full L&FCC Dining Room at the St. Vincent De Paul facility. |
